Charlotte Day Wilson – If Only

Toronto singer-songwriter Charlotte Day Wilson released her new EP Patchwork yesterday via Stone Woman Music / XL Recordings, with latest single “If Only”. The Grammy-nominated producer and multi-instrumentalist presents a brooding, atmospheric track with hushed jazz textures, pristine instrumentation, and spacious production that places her voice at the center.

“If Only” explores themes of vulnerability and longing for holding on to moments that feel just unreachable. The subtle chorus adds emotional weight to a minimalist arrangement. The track drifts at a slow burn, unfolding as a moody blend of jazz and R&B anchored by Wilson’s warm, understated vocals.

Patchwork marks a new creative chapter shaped by imperfection, instinct, and emotional honesty. Originally conceived as demos during a moment of self-doubt, the songs revealed themselves as complete in their rawness, embracing vulnerability over polish. “Patchwork is my little mosaic of imperfection”, Wilson explains. “I realised how much more beautiful my life and my music were when I let go of expectations and unrealistic standards and just followed my instincts. Said fuck u to pressure and went back to my original process of creating – making songs in my room without knowing what for. I don’t know what else to say other than this music feels deeply true to my soul. I’m aligned with myself, and what a feat that is”.

Following her 2025 singles “Selfish” and “High Road”, Wilson kicked off 2026 with “Lean”, featuring fellow Torontonian Saya Gray. The singles—co-written and co-produced with Gray, Ace G, and Braden Sauder—pair soft piano, layered harmonies, and haunting lyricism with Wilson’s commanding yet tender voice.

With Patchwork, Wilson reframes her journey as a nonlinear collection of moments—stitched together with intention, honesty, and restraint.
